Cookery Classes

Our basic cookery project is designed for young people who would like to expand their limited knowledge of cookery.  Covering   the basic techniques, which are fundamental to good cooking. Young people will learn to cook and prepare food quickly, to plan ahead and produce food without effort or panic, focusing on a healthy and balanced diet on a budget.

The project  covers the following aspects of cookery for beginners:-

  • Menu planning and presenting food
  • Simple sauces and soups
  • Cakes and pastries
  • Fish, meat and poultry
  • Interesting salads
  • Preparing and cooking fresh vegetables
  • Roasting, grilling, casseroling
  • Delicious desserts
  • and much, much more…

The project  takes place in our purpose built fully equipped  training kitchen with plenty of working space for each young person. Enjoy working with others, sharing ideas and tips, we also make sure there is plenty of personal support and help from the staff team.  With access to a well researched course book containing numerous tried and tested tasty recipes.  Young people can then take this project further by attending college or doing a modern apprenticeship gaining qualifications in Hospitality and catering.

During the basic cookery project young people will receive demonstrations as well as clear, constructive guidance. The project is based on hands-on cooking as we believe this is the best way to learn. At the end of the day young people can look forward to relaxing with others, eating the meals they have cooked or invite a friend or family round to try out their culinary master piece.
